New animation aims to calm cats during Fireworks Night
Cats Protection has produced an animation to help keep cats safe during fireworks celebrations.
While fireworks displays are great fun for people, cats can easily become stressed, confused or injured by fireworks.
In addition to the physical damage caused by fireworks, there is the risk of a pet cat running away from home, or suffering behavioural problems such as house soiling.
However, the animation runs owners through a few simple precautions to help keep cats out of harm’s way including:
Keeping cats in after dark
Securely fastening all external windows and doors
Reducing outside lights by having curtains drawn and reducing outside noise by playing soothing music
Providing a safe, comfy place in familiar territory where a cat can hide
